Why is it important?

The Saint Nicholas battalion from the Ukrainian city of Mykolaiv gained ground at the end of summer 2014 and in a short period captured and imprisoned a few pro-Russian separatist groups. The primary goal of this battalion is to monitor suspected separatist movements and keep the Mykolaiv and Donetsk region protected. The Saint Nicholas battalion cooperated with Ukrainian armed forces in the Anti Terrorist Operation (ATO) zone and performed a full range of military functions. The battalion’s soldiers took part in special operations, which were connected with the detection of sabotage by terrorist groups, and in reconnaissance forces in the Donetsk and Lugansk region. However, often a lack of equipment has hampered soldiers’ activities in the war.

Where does the money go?

Your support makes a difference and brings some changes for the better. The money is used for upgrading military equipment and improving soldiers’ living conditions. The main task of the battalion has been to wage war against pro-Russian armed forces. The soldiers of Saint Nicholas are in the ATO zone to neutralize separatist groups and protect public order while on duty with local military forces in Lugansk region. The money is to keep up the great support to our Ukrainian troops through the immediate future.

The Saint Nicholas battalion was founded in May 2014 to act in special operation military activities in the Mykolaiv region. The majority of this military force is concentrated in the conflict zone and some of the soldiers defend the Mykolaiv region’s borders. Simultaneously there are ongoing attempts at destabilizing Ukraine by cutting it off from the Black Sea shore. That’s why support and donations from Ukrainians is very important. All of the Saint Nicholas soldiers are very experienced having served in the Armed forces of Ukraine.
