Patient of The Bioengineering Rehabilitation for Wounded Project Yuriy passed a control examination 1 year after a completion of his treatment. The examination at The Ilaya Clinic showed, that recovery goes according to a plan. Yuriy surprised doctors, because bone strengthened even more, than doctors expected. Yuri lives a full life, which requires a lot of pressure for the cured leg. The treatment of a soldier was made possible thanks to a charitable contributions. For the treatment of Yuriy the volunteers of The People’s Project collected more than 200,000 UAH.
Yuriy came to the clinic on his own two legs
Yuri is a soldier of 51st Separate Mechanized Brigade. He was wounded at Sloviansk in July of 2014. Yuriy was driving an auto, when an enemy bomb exploded beneath it. Shrapnel severely injured his right hand and leg. Yuriy has been treated in 3 hospitals, but even in a year with all the effort of the doctors shin has not fused. In a place of the fracture a false joint got formed, and leg got twisted. Yuriy could barely move with a help of crutches.
Yuriy’s leg at the beginning of treatment
Yuriy joined The Biotech on the advice and with help of a volunteer Natalia Volohata in summer of 2015. The active phase of a treatment started from the first day. Doctors took samples of Yuriy’s cellular material, brought his leg in a correct position and prepared place of an injury for further treatment. Very soon a place of an injury was filled with a cellular material. In 6 weeks bone started to fuse steadily.
With a time Yuriy exchanged crutches for a cane, and very soon stopped using even it. Nowadays Yuriy walk on his own, and on a relatively long distances. Now there are only a course of exercises, training and rehabilitation ahead, because treatment is a long process, which still continues. However, it is definitely better to walk on your own legs, than with help of the crutches, or with a prosthesis.
Treatment of Yuriy was made possible only with the help of ordinary people. The government of Ukraine does not finance an innovative technology treatment. And methods used by a traditional medicine are sometimes outdated. In cases of severe combat injuries the conventional methods are simply useless.
