Rapid Response

Military medics seek assistance. Joint action needed!

Dear friends, hello! The current situation looks like this: we have got a few simultaneous urgent requests regarding medical equipment. These are necessities requested by our military medics, so we have to satisfy them in the first place and in shortest possible time. Hence, we need your help. Let us describe the requests in detail.

Передача для медиків: погляньте, чим рятують життя бійців

It is not for the first time that we support our military medics. We’ve been continuously sending them first aid kits, backpacks and the rest of life-saving equipment

Position number one is medical simulators. These are the mannequins featuring real injuries imitations which will be used to teach the doctors of an Air Assault Brigade who has just advanced to their positions, the skills necessary for optimal performance in a real life combat emergency situation. Naturally, it is a preferable and safe way to practice emergency situations and treatment of heavy injuries on an inanimate plastic dummy; a handy way to train, sometimes even make a mistake, analyze it and draw up the necessary conclusions without doing any harm to a real wounded person in critical condition when it is a matter of seconds and someone’s life can be the price of a possible mistake. In addition, such training systems are not that expensive, and the entire purchase would cost about ten thousand hryvnias total.

Рани та кровотечі: погляньте, яке корисне жахіття передали для “Альфи”

Recently, we already transferred such mannequins for the medics of a special unit of the SSU, after which they sent us a thankful video in return. We are not going to show it to you as it’s a bit scary for an unprepared individual: artificial blood is being splashed everywhere while enthusiastic medical staff are swearing all the time, still manage to  successfully tamponade the wounds and bandage the affected areas fast and skillfully. So the training systems came in rather handy to them!

It seems for the first time in our history that medics asked us to send them a mobile defibrillator

The second position is the kit for a more experienced paramedic. This one was requested for a very specific combat unit. It includes a mobile defibrillator used in emergency situations. Sometimes due to sustained battlefield injuries or other reasons, fibrillation occurs: the heart loses its usual rhythm, and his chambers start to contract chaotically, in an uncoordinated manner, which eventually leads to their failure to pump blood through blood vessels. Logically, this leads to rapid death. While the defibrillator allows to contract all the muscles simultaneously and restart it from scratch setting a joint coordinated rhythm, thus saving  a patient’s life. Do medics need such a device? The question is rather rhetoric.

This slightly ominous thing allows delivering medications into the hard-to-reach areas fast and under control

In addition, the kit incorporated a system for intraosseous access that allows to inject drugs in inaccessible zones, a pulse ox and various specific bandage materials. The thing is, all these devices are designed for long-term repeated practical use. A medic serving in the unit, is known for his extensive coaching practice: when off duty, he trains civil and military paramedics throughout Ukraine as a volunteer. So this equipment will not only save lives but also help the instructor train and prepare a few generations of his younger colleagues. We consider this need exceptionally useful and important. The whole sum amounts to almost thirty thousand hryvnias. Perhaps it can seem quite expensive, still if to consider the extended list of necessities and overall benefit of this purchase, you may agree that it is worth it.

All these needs we must satisfy at the expense of the Rapid Response project – the initiative was designed to accumulate charitable donations and buy the necessary devices and stuff requested by our military. Sometimes it can be up-to-date military equipment or devices, and sometimes it is our fighters’ medical demands that need to be met. That’s why we ask you to join in and support us once again, dear friends: their needs are vital; it is al about life-saving stuff necessary to keep our military alive, so each hryvnia donated by you, is rather decisive as it is your minor affordable contributions that enable us to raise substantial amounts, no matter how big they may initially appear. All our open reports are updated in real time as usual, and we also never allocate a penny out of your donations on our personal needs.

Dear friends, the war continues, so we need to support our military: eventually, they risk their own lives and well-being for each of us. Come join in!
