Russian snipers and their laser sniper complexes strike again. Recently, our fellow sniper unit whom we’ve been supporting for a while, sent us a message. Currently, the guys are busy carrying out counter sniper activities in Promka, the industrial zone in Avdiivka vicinity which is considered among the hottest spots of this war. One of the snipers serving with this unit, has fallen a victim of the Russian occupiers’ activities: the man got a heavy burn of the eye due to the damage caused by use of a counter sniper laser complex deployed by Russians. Officially, this device is designed to destroy the lens in the sniper rifle optics. Still Russians use these to physically blind our fighters, pointing the beam directly at the eye to damage the retina. This wasn’t a single case: we continuously inform you of the attempts to use such complexes on the part of Russians and their mercenaries and try to warm our military of the danger.

A powerful laser ray causes irreparable damage and acute pain to a human body by burning out the retina of the eye. At the moment, the injured Ukrainian sniper is being taken care of in a hospital; in spite of the severity of the injury, doctors make cautious positive prognoses. Still such treatment followed by rehabilitation usually takes a lot of time and effort, and we wish our wounded defender a speedy recovery.
Naturally, the despicable actions committed by Russians, have not gone unanswered. In response to their comrade’s injury, our guys have hunted his offender down. But the struggle against the occupiers is not over: it continues every single minute. And we can confront any weapons used by the aggressor, even those prohibited my the Minsk agreements, international conventions or just conflicting with humanism and common sense, – and able to provide effective defense against these. You, personally, can also support the guys who are busy defending us day and night, and assist in saving their eyes. Within the I Am Sniper initiative, we raise funds to buy new scopes able of digital signal filtration which ensure protection of the eye of a sniper against the laser beams targeting it.
