First left, and then right we gradually restored Yuriy’s legs during The Bioengineering Rehabilitation for Wounded Project. Yuriy suffers from the consequences of a severe degree of arthrosis, which almost destroyed his both knee joints. The state of his health deteriorated significantly during the turbulent events of the recent years. Among the others are Maidan, where Yuriy participated actively, and hot spots of the ATO area, where Yuri served at the call of the heart. Prolonged loads almost destroyed already deformed joints, and after demobilization Yuriy moves with a lot of effort and constant strong pains in both legs.
There is the solution to this issue. Conventional medicine can offer prosthetic joints. We are practicing a much better alternative. With the help of the cellular technology, experts of The Bioengineering Rehabilitation for Wounded Project grown new cartilaginous tissue on the articular heads of the bones of the leg. Just recently was completed the complex treatment of Yuriy’s left leg. Doctors performed osteotomy in several stages, stretched the bone and set the shin, twisted with arthrosis, into the correct physiological position. When the bone strengthened, Yuriy’s cell materials were applied. On the 4th of July, doctors performed a long surgery, when they dismantled the orthopedic plate and removed the tumor formations.

The tumor in his case is as result of a complication of arthrosis. Also, because of a prolonged dysfunction of both joints hygroms got formed, which are the pathological accumulation of proteins, and substances in the layers of the connective tissues, as tendons and articular bags. The doctors removed such a neoplasm on the left leg, and soon will remove the same one on the right.

At the moment Yuriy recovers after the surgery. During a course of rest and rehabilitation, which follows, he should actively develop a renewed joint to help it form a new cartilaginous tissue. We accumulate funds, and get ready for the second stage of the treatment. Soon the same treatment will be applied for the right leg.

The volunteers of The People’s Project, and the doctors of The Ilaya Clinic can only do it at the expense of your generous donations. The government does not support us, and does not allocate any funds for the treatment of Ukrainian defenders, and can not provide sufficient methods to treat such kind of injuries. The defenders do not have the money for such treatment. And it is not ethical to ask money for the treatment from soldiers, who went to war, and lost their health to protect the country. That is why the treatment of the wounded defenders of Ukraine depends on the good people.
