After more than twenty surgeries patient of the Bioengineering Project Andriy return to normal life

The latest medical check of one of the patients of The Bioengineering Rehabilitation for Wounded Project Andriy stated that treatment and recovery took place in full accordance with the plan. Andriy’s left tibia completely recovered without any complications and there are no contraindications against full loads for Andriy’s left leg from now on. The next steps are some rehabilitation exercises and normal life. Out of habit, Andriy still hold the crutches, but the doctor advised to refuse additional support and feel free to load the leg up.

The fracture wasn’t growing back together for more than 18 month. The cellular technology restored the bone in less than a few months

Andrew joined The Bioengineering Rehabilitation for Wounded Project a year ago. He was injured in the battle near Izvaryne in 2014. The body of a man was seriously wounded with the debris from a close explosion. The patient got to The Ilaya Clinic with the severe fracture of the left tibia infected by the osteomyelitis, and curvature of the left foot. The volunteers of The People’s Project almost immediately collected over 350 thousand UAH of donations and paid for the treatment of Andriy.

Andriy on the different stages of the treatment process

During the next six months medical experts have selected samples and prepared cellular material, overcame a bone infection and fixed the Ilizarov apparatus to align the axis of the broken bone. The fractured place of the bone was filled with cellular material, which eventually turned into a monolithic bone. In August, Andriy had the fixation device removed and started to load the leg up steadily. Now the control examination had shown that the leg is completely healthy, and the patient can forget about the hospitals.

Before The Bioengineering Rehabilitation for Wounded Project Andriy went through over 20 surgeries in the state hospitals

The high-tech treatment under The Bioengineering Rehabilitation for Wounded Project in The Ilaya Clinic preceded by 18 month in the public and military hospitals. Andriy was saved from death and had his condition stabilized. But the consequences of foot injury was not healed. The guy went through more than twenty surgeries before he joined The Bioengineering Rehabilitation for Wounded Project. And only a year after the start of treatment man is walking on his own two without any support.

Today Andriy is almost completely healthy and able to walk without any support

Unfortunately, it is not as easy to cure all the seriously wounded soldiers. Each medical procedure with the use of cellular technology worth a lot of money. Even considering the fact, that The Ilaya Clinic treat seriously wounded defenders of Ukraine from ATO zone only at the cost of the materials. Because of the incomprehensible position of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, this kind of treatment can not be financed from the state budget. And many wounded defenders of Ukraine are in need of immediate treatment. That is why only the donations under The Bioengineering Rehabilitation for Wounded Project make the treatment of the severely wounded soldiers possible.

Each contribution matters.
