Oleksandr S, 43. Money raised

How Oleksandr’s treatment progresses:

Oleksandr S, 43. Money raised

Oleksandr S, 43. Money raised

How Oleksandr’s treatment progresses:

Wounded:

Oleksandr S, 43, a volunteer soldier in the “Donbas” Battalion, injured near Ilovaisk.

Wound:

Right foot: Right avascular necrosis of the talus, threatening him with disability.

X-ray-nekrosis-2

Avascular or aseptic necrosis of bone – means the bone is dying because of severe injury or disease. If left untreated, the process will continue until it leads to the complete destruction of the bone. That means, Oleksandr’s astragalus could completely collapse.
When the condition progresses and the bone of the adjacent joints begin to break down, the person feels sharp pain, limiting mobility of the joint. The duration of the condition from the first symptoms to the destruction of bone and joints may be only a few months.
Over time the dead bone is removed, the ankle can experience fusion. As a result, a non-functioning joint and shortening of the leg, causing disability.

Oleaksandr Sob-injury show

The problem is treatment of the talus is rarely undertaken because it has very poor access. The only way to restore it is via cellular technology. If the bone is only beginning to crumble, like in Oleksandr’s case, there is still time to cure the condition by introducing cells without major surgery. This will require less time and fewer resources. As long as there isn’t further bone collapse as has been the case in the past with Igor, the operation must be completed, bone chips introduced, and an external fixation apparatus mounted. Therefore, efficiency in the treatment of Oleksandr is crucial.:

More information about the wounded:

Oleksandr, a volunteer in the “Donbas” Battalion, was wounded on August 29 2014 while leaving the cauldron of  Ilovaisk. He didn’t make it and was taken prisoner by terrorists. Held captive for two harroring days, the terrorists tortured him at will. The soldier recalls that during capture he did not have time to remove the “Donbas” chevron. This is angered the Russian paratroopers. Oleksandr suffered smashed teeth, was beaten about the head, and his feet and back were jumped and stomped on.

After being released from captivity, the injured soldier did not wait for full recovery. Already a part of the  “Dnepr-1” Battalion he returned to the East, where he served until the beginning of 2016. Now Oleksandr has begun to experience severe pain. An X-ray examination showed aseptic necrosis of the talus, which potentially had the potential to make Oleksandr an invalid. Volunteer and lawyer Iryna Kurylenko advised him to contact the project Bioengineering Rehabilitation for Wounded. A porven project for treating these type of injuries with the help of biotechnology.

Oleksandr served in the ATO zone for 18 months. He participated in the liberation of Karlivka, Pisky, Krasnogorivka and participated in the first assault on Ilovaisk. Before the war, he worked as a private entrepreneur – a massage therapist. His leisure activities always revolved around the great outdoors, hunting or gathering mushrooms. And Oleksandr enjoys sports, he was even once a candidate for master of sports in shooting. He now lives in Kyiv with his 16-year-old son.
