Dmytro Zh, 25. Treatment completed

How is Dmyto’s treatment progressing:

Wounded 25-year-old soldier Dmytro needs help. Without effective results from his treatment after being wounded, scar tissue on his leg tears as he walks. Full recovery is only possible through the application of unique biotechnology through the Bioengineering Rehabilitation for Wounded project.

The funds are collected via the crowdfunding platform run by the volunteers of The People’s Project. We urge everyone who has the opportunity to help Ukraine’s wounded soldiers to do so.

Wounded:

Dmytro Zh, 25, a soldier with the 128th Brigade wounded near Debaltseve.

Wound:

Extensive scar-ulcerative defect of the right popliteal fossa (kneepit).

Injury 1_Dmytro

In the case of Dmytro the wound below his right knee healed and then reopened six months later, Dmytro has to constantly take immune-boosting drugs (antivirals as a drink), as a large area remains uncovered by skin. This scar also does not allow Dmytro to freely move.

More information about the wounded:

Dmytro, a fighter with the 15th Battalion of the 128th Brigade was wounded on January 1, 2015, near Debaltseve. During transport of wounded near the village of Ridkodub between checkpoints, he and his fellow soldiers were ambushed and were shot with an RPG. Five soldiers were wounded and one killed.

Within four hours Dmytro was assisted in the hospital in Artemovsk. Under the cover of night, he was transported out of the conflict zone to be treated in Kharkiv. Eventually, Dmitro was sent to the city of Lviv.

During the treatment many fragments were removed from the lower part of his body. Doctors performed dermoplastic surgery to the scar-ulcer affecting his right popliteal fossa but it did not produce the desired result. Now the popliteal area of the wound remains and the skin breaks every time he walks.

Injury 2_Dmytro

Dmytro was mobilized in May 2014. He was sent to the ATO zone as a part of the 5th Carpathians Battalion. Dmytro lives in the Kalush district, Ivano-Frankivsk region and is the youngest son in his family. Before the war, he was a home repairman. In his leisure he was active and he engaged in football, basketball, volleyball and swimming. Now wants to recover quickly, create a family and return to a physically active life.
