Donetsk Airport – the hottest spot in the undeclared war in Ukraine for several months, was once a symbol of the “new” Donetsk. Alas that was only for two years, having been built for the “Euro 2012” football championship, it was dubbed one of the best airports in the world and was the pride of the city. Now, under separatist and Russian fire the majority of it lies in ruins. Ukrainian fighters manage to dig in to the remaining scraps of buildings only thanks to enormous efforts, courage and, for many, at the cost of their lives. Every hour of every day the bloody war goes on, psychological as much as physical.
The airport is defended by a number of military units with various equipment. We call for fund raising to support the 93rd mechanized brigade. Its fighters have been located at the airport from August 1. In three months they have lost many brothers in arms and a substantial part of equipment, but continue to hold the positions even when times are tough. The soldiers managed to destroy dozens of terrorists, several tanks and a lot of munitions.

The story of Donetsk Airport defense will become the basis for stories to be told well into the future. Thanks to the Ukrainian fighters the airport is already considered a modern “Brest Fortress” of nowadays.
